History
Michael Walker founded Dream 7 in February 2001.
Mr. Walker originally hails from Los Angeles, California. He started in the entertainment business at the age of fourteen and has several acting credits to his name. After arriving in Nashville he became an original member of the Black Taffeta and Burlap Theatre Company. When that company dissolved several years later, he felt the need to fill that void in the African American community and start his own company.
Since it’s inception, Dream 7 has consistently performed original pieces written by Walker that reflect the true history of the African American community. Walker is quick to point out that his plays are merely American stories, like all other cultural stories, that are a part of the American melting pot.
Dream 7 is also a teaching company that has provided an opportunity for those who wish to get a start at the craft of acting. Dream 7 is a company that will open that opportunity for all in need of just a simple chance. Dream 7 is also deeply rooted and committed to it’s surrounding community. They have performed outreach pieces that target at-risk youth at behavioral schools and the Juvenile Justice lockup.
Walker and Dream 7 are looking forward to the coming years and hope that they will continue to be a ladder-in-grass-roots theatre company in the Nahsville area.
