'Bearded' (A Play in II acts), written by Christan Riley (©2009) presented by Dream 7 Productions, is about two best friends who learn what it really means when a man wears his beard. Sheila and Glenis (best friends) reunite when Sheila moves to nashville from Baton Rouge, LA. Sheila finally gets to be close to her best friend again while merging her lifestyle to the nashville way. She hits the dating scene almost immediately when she meets her new neighbor, Ryan. Glenis, romantically involved with Jason (her boyfriend of 2 years), is in for a big surprise at Sheila's housewarming party where she's faced with the biggest decision of her life. This decision leads Glenis to a rude awakening about herself and her man.
Christan Riley, the executive Musical Director of Dream 7 Productions,
finished writing Bearded (not a musical) in March 2009.
It is a registered work and will soon be available
at your local library for your viewing pleasure.
Christan was primarily inspired by
Michael Baisden & Tom Joyner radio personalities
who have aired a few live shows on WQQK 92.1 fm radio
about men living alternative and non-traditional lifestyles.
She was also inspired by friends, associates, and common social occurences
to write a play about Black Men and their sexual preferences.
Her result was this comedic yet very controversial drama about two best friends
who embark on a new lesson of love when one of the two friends
are introduced to the dating scene of Nashville, TN.
They are both in for a rude awakening about many new aged men.
'Beard,' generally known as chin hair on a man,
has long been used as a slang word to describe infedility in a monogamous relationship.
